I'm a Sucker for Photography

Ballerina in Stripes by AngelinaMoon

I'm a huge fan of the Pounce feature on Etsy. For those not familiar with it, you can search for random shops that have never had a sale or shops that have recently had a sale. I opt for the newbies because they're far more interesting. If you could view my favorites, you would find a TON of photographers. I just love creative photography and I heart these shops left and right! So here are a few of my faves.

Happy Birthday! You're Older Than Me!

Red Velvet Cupcake Photo from TulipPhotographicArt

It's Jim's birthday today and it's one of the best days of the year because it reminds me that I'm still younger than him. No matter how old I get, he'll always be a step and a half ahead of me. It's so sweet of him to let me hang onto my youth a little longer. Not that he had a choice but I'm sure this is where the "age before beauty" phrase got started. Yes, definitely originated with him and me; I'm sure of it. He's helping me remain beautiful too! Seriously sweet guy.

Today is also Jim's twin's birthday. I tease him every year that I hope he didn't forget. I love hearing him tell stories about informing people he has a twin sister and they respond with, "Oh, are you identical?" He would give them an odd look and repeat, "SISTER." I think he should have said, "Yes, exactly identical! I've had gender identification issues for years! But I'm leaning more towards male; it's easier to explain the beard."

So "Happy Birthday, Jim!" No really, have a fabulous day because you've already made mine. :o)

Alright, enough snarkiness, let's shop! Some birthday inspired finds............

A Hunting We Will Go

Fertility Balance by abstractheart

Am I the only one bothered by bunnies laying eggs? How did this crime against nature even start? Apparently, rabbits are so fertile, they'll resort to laying eggs if given the chance.
So, I went on an Easter Egg Hunt and look what these randy rabbits left behind!

Don't Get Pinched!!

Lucky Four Leaf Clover Ring by KiraFerrer

Not sure what undertone my skin has, but I cannot pull off wearing any shade of green without looking sickly and just plain wrong. I never liked St. Patrick's Day because I would inevitably get pinched. Several times. Pinning a green shamrock to my shirt didn't dissuade anyone. It always looked kind of lame anyway. Seriously, people, I didn't forget the day, I just can't (shouldn't) wear green. I guess I was either going to be bombarded with pinches or asked constantly if I was feeling okay. Sigh.
Pinching and pallid color aside, it is an eat, drink and be merry holiday. Heavy on the drink part. Although, there is something disturbing about the green beer they serve annually; just doesn't look right. Anyway, if you can't wear it (like me) there are plenty of other ways to get lucky! Oh wait, that came out wrong. Um, if you can't wear it, don't? It's easy to get lucky? Sham-rock your world? Pinch me, I'm lucky, you can be too?
How about, celebrate and avoid the pinch! :o)

Speaking of Friends......

Hello, Friend by

ElegantSnobbery

Don't you miss the days when you could just walk up to someone and say, "Hey, wanna be my friend?" It was so much easier back then. You can't really pull that off now without looking like some psycho stalker or overly needy person, possibly pathetic.
Finding friends as an adult is one of the hardest things to do, right along with sitting through an entire Paulie Shore movie or pretending you understand half of the technical job terms your husband brings home from work. Just nod and smile. :o)
How I wish I had my group of girlfriends, and we got together at least once a week, a la Sex and the City style. Most of my friends either live out of state or have started families which, I understand, really cuts into a personal life.
But, now that my kids are getting older, hopefully I'll be getting out more and hanging with my current friends and making new ones. You tend to lose your sense of self when you don't spend time with people older than 5. Oh to eat a meal you didn't prepare or have to cut up for someone else while having meaningful adult conversation that doesn't get interrupted with "Seriously Child, eat your dinner." Or even to see a movie that wasn't produced by Disney or is rated more than PG.
So, here's to good friends past, present and future.

Is There a Black Thumb?

Jim is always teasing me that I cannot keep a houseplant alive to save my life, or its life, more appropriately. If it's green, please don't bring it into my house. This is where houseplants come to die. But I like to think that maybe I'm just helping them out of their misery, like the Dr. Kevorkian of potted plants, without the jail time. If it weren't for me, there would be strewn ceramic pots and garden soil littering the area under the nearest bridge. So, you're welcome. :o)

Besides, it's a trade off. Which is more important, that the banana leaf tree in the corner is still alive (ps it's not) or that the kids are? I let him pick because there are plenty of days I miss that tree. :oP

Here are some plants more suited to my gardening style.........

My Funny Valentine

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not a fan of Valentine's Day. The last time I celebrated it was probably in grade school when giving cards was mandatory. Do you even know where the holiday originates from? Apparently, no one does. In reading up on it, there really is no definitive answer, however, it sounds an awful lot like celebrating the martyrdom of two different Saint Valentine's. Neither of which has to do with love, cards or chocolates. And forgive me, but if I need a day to remind myself to tell the ones I love that I love them, we have bigger issues than finding the right sentiment. But if I must share my Valentine's Day sentiments, then what better way than these?

*Sigh* Valentine's Day. Gets ya right here. (I'm pointing to my wallet).

Nostalgic for Juice Boxes

Remember when your life was so much simpler? No bills to pay, morgtage screaming "boo, haha" at you every month, or 2-year-old boss ordering you to make them lunch? Yeah, me either, but if I had to guess, I'd have to say juice boxes and legos were probably involved. *Sigh* Let's pretend our memories are better than we give them credit for and visit some blasts from the past, shall we?

And finally, the Legos. Yes, I still have these. And no, not the girly pink and purple ones but the super cool regular ones. Ah memories.
